Letters, 1680-1938.

A petition for a medical cure for arthritis. Presumably she wanted to help her husband who suffered from arthritis. The letter was translated by A.H. White for Eugene F. McPike and was included in McPike's publication, Hevelius, Flamsteed and Halley: Three Contemporary Astronomers and Their Mutual Relations (London: Taylor and Francis, 1937): 5-6. Also includes three letters from Huntington Library (San Marino, CA) written in 1938 related to Eugene F. McPike's query concerning secret writings on the blank areas of the 1680 letter. The third letter states that there are no secret writings. McPike had possession of the letter at the time of this inquiry. Transferred from the Eugene Fairfield McPike Papers (Mss. 2390).
